What to do before Aimen arrives
If water is escaping, turn it off at the stop tap. It is usually under the kitchen sink, but it can be in a downstairs toilet, a cupboard or by the front door. If water is near lights or sockets, switch off at the consumer unit and keep clear. Put towels and buckets down, move what you can and take a few photos if it is safe.
Make it safe, then fix it properly
The first job is always to stop the water and make the property safe. The van carries parts for the usual failures, so the repair is often finished on the same visit. Where a part has to be ordered or the cause is hidden, the leak is made safe first and the permanent repair is booked in. A ceiling leak may then need leak detection, a blocked toilet drain unblocking, and a heating failure boiler repair or central heating work.
